Awards won at the Diary Innovation Awards
Nampak Plastics' revolutionary lightweight Infini HDPE milk bottle achieved international industry recognition, picking up the top award in the ‘Best Dairy Packaging Innovation’ category at the Dairy Innovation Awards 2012, which were held in Oslo. Infini was also awarded the Starpack Award of Excellence in the 'Green Star Environment and Sustainability category'.
RoSPA Gold Achievement Award
Upon its first application in 2012, Nampak was awarded the RoSPA Gold Achievement Award in recognition of our outstanding commitment towards the Health, Safety and Welfare of Nampak employees, site visitors and contractors. Some of this is testament to the comprehensive behavioural safety programme that was rolled out throughout the business during 2011.
High Commendation Award
In 2010, Nampak Plastics received a 'High Commendation' Award in the prestigious Business Commitment to the Environment (BCE)—Environmental Leadership Awards.
Product Premier Awards
Competing in the ‘Product Premier Award’ category, we received the award in recognition of our leadership in driving the major breakthrough in sustainable milk packaging through the manufacture of the world’s first recycled-content plastic milk bottle.
Chartered Institute of Personnel Development Award
Nampak's commitments to encouraging our workforce to be involved in all aspects of the business was recognised when we received the accolade of overall winner in the Chartered Institute of Personnel Development (CIPD) 2010 awards as well as winning the Employment Engagement Category. The judges were impressed by our 'Participate Programme' which was launched in autumn 2009.
Best Business Initiative Award
In 2009, Nampak Plastics won the 'Best Business Initiative' award at the ninth annual Plastics Industry Awards. This is the industry’s most prestigious award. They recognise and celebrate business achievement throughout the UK plastics industry.
Nampak moved the goal posts with its world first HDPE bottle which was created with 10% rHDPE. This achievement was recognised with a (UK) Starpack Gold award in 2007 for Best Use of Innovative Material. This award was presented to the core project team of Nampak, Nextek, WRAP and Dairy Crest.
The recycled content bottle also received worldwide recognition when it won the 2007 Worldstar packaging award. This was then followed by a Worldstar Sustainability Award in 2008—one of only two products in the world to win this award—which recognises extraordinary achievements in sustainable packaging.
Nampak’s entry highlighted the company’s development and successful promotion of a bespoke child-friendly HDPE bottle for school milk deliveries in South Wales. This was a direct response to schools requesting an environmentally-friendly alternative to cartons.
