Innovation and HDPE
Nampak is pleased to be a member of the consortium elected by the Waste & Resources Action Programme (WRAP
). Together with WRAP we devoted time and resources to researching their Development of the food grade HDPE recycling process
The major aim of this project was to develop a cost-efficient recycling process to produce food-grade HDPE for new milk bottles from post-consumer recycling. This was achieved when the world's first recycled content milk bottle went on sale in Marks & Spencer's organic milk bottle range. This bottle contained 10% recycled HDPE.
As a result of this project, all retailers in the UK now have over 10% recycled material in their plastic milk bottles.
